Barcodes
A barcode is essentially a series of black and white stripes which encode for numbers. On any standard UPC barcode, a digit is represented by two white lines and two black lines. The left-most pair of black lines should be identical to the right-most and the pair closest to the middle.
The first six digits all start with white stripes, and the last six digits all start with black stripes. This, coupled with some other, semi-complicated error-reducing formatting, allows the barcode to be read correctly no matter which direction it is swiped through the Barcode Battler.
Custom Barcode->Game Element
While our investigation into how the Barcode Battler converts stripes into game elements is ongoing, we have found a curious pattern with custom barcodes:
The digits in the following barcode images do not represent valid barcodes! I am simply using the numbers to identify the positions in the barcode structure where the raw data is derived.
