| P-Code Calculations
In order to calculate the P-Code for a given Warrior/Wizard pair, you must first know the last 3 digits of each barcode.
In this example, I'll use Mega Blaster(509) and Cool Candy(501).
In order to calculate the base value for the P-Codes, you must first add each digit of the three from the Warrior separately to the corresponding digit of the Wizard.
In this example, the mathematics are 5+5=10, 0+0=0 and 9+1=10.
Now, ignore the most significant digits of the results. This should leave you with, in this example, 0, 0 and 0.
Then, feed them into the P-Code -
P(First result)0 (Second result)0(Third result)
Which in this example is P00 000.
Next you must apply one of the 99 remaining P-Codes (P00 000 is valid for Mega Blaster and Cool Candy, but has no effect)
To do this, pick any 2-digit integer between and including 01 and 99. In this example, I'll use 25.
Now add the digits together, and divide the result by 2 and round down. In this example, that's (2+5=7)/2=3.5 \/ 3.
Add this digit to the end of the number you selected. In this example, that's 253.
Now, add the first digit of this 3-digit number to the first 2 digits of the base P-Code.
Then add the second digit to the third and fourth digits of the base P-Code.
Finally, add the final third to the final digit of the base P-Code.
The result, in this example, is P22 553.
The two-digit numbers awarded for defeating various Eras and enemies are as follows -
| Beat | P-Code | This example |
| Era 1 | 10 | P11 000 |
| Era 2 | 17 | P11 774 |
| Gannon | 20 | P22 001 |
| Era 3 | 24 | P22 443 |
| Era 4 | 31 | P33 112 |
| Gilger | 35 | P33 554 |
| Droome | 36 | P33 664 |
| 999999295997 | 49 | P44 991 |
"What is '999999295997'?" I hear you ask. It is a very helpful research tool in my quest to find out how P-Codes are calculated. It is also a very powerful enemy. Type it into the barcode generator, and use it as an enemy in C2 for the ultimate challenge!
I will add more details here when I find them.
Hardware
The incomplete electronic schematic to the left shows the connections of the main circuit board.
The main chip (a big black rectangle) has the following markings - "NEC JAPAN D75316GF 298 9329KK033".
The smaller, eight pin IC has the following markings - "S2929A RIOCG9 D35".
All displayed resistors have the colour codes displayed as they are in the device, but the values of the capacitors are unknown.
The functions of the switches are denoted by the symbols and text above them.
The three cables marked "EXT" appear to connect to a data socket, possibly to allow connection to a SNES for Conveni Wars.
The three cables marked "BCI" refer to connections to the Barcode Input circuit board, which I shall examine another time.
